LOS ANGELES - Founder and Principal Edward J. Rendon - the former Director of Public Affairs for Teamsters Joint Council 42 and Executive Director of the San Gabriel Valley Civic Alliance (SGVCA) has launched SoCal Advocacy, LLC, a Los Angeles-based government relations and lobbying firm and sister company to Capitol Advocacy, one of the top lobbying firms in California. Joining him in this new venture is LA City Hall veteran lobbyist Tracey Chavira, who brings over 20 years of Los Angeles government, procurement and political experience.
Rendon has emerged as an effective lobbyist throughout Southern California local government jurisdictions and as part of the lobbying team at Capitol Advocacy in Sacramento. Chavira gained federal experience while working as a field representative in a Congressional office, tackling immigration and Veterans' affairs issues. She also worked at a Capitol Hill lobbying firm, focused on tax code policy.
"Ed Rendon is a true collaborator," said Supervisor Kathryn Barger of Los Angeles County's 5th Supervisorial District. "SoCal Advocacy will do well navigating clients through the government process."
Throughout his career, Rendon has successfully managed both employer and labor client relations, often serving as the bridge for both sectors in Los Angeles and Sacramento. SoCal Advocacy specializes in local government relations and business development in the transportation, technology, education, retail, healthcare, tax consumer product and home improvement sectors.
"Business in Los Angeles thrives through collaboration. We wish SoCal Advocacy much success in launching their venture and as a new Chamber member," said Maria S. Salinas, President & CEO of the Los Aneles Area Chamber of Commerce. Rendon's experience and political reach extends into the Inland Empire, Orange County and San Diego, providing clients with direct contact with officeholders and business leaders. "I've worked with Ed Rendon on state and local government issues for many years, and he is a results-driven operator," said Supervisor Curt Hagman for San Bernardino County's Fourth District.
Prior to founding SoCal Advocacy, Rendon managed the Teamsters political spending of more that $1.5 million per election cycle. In that time, he also helped elect dozens of political leaders at the local, state and federal level.
"For years, Ed Rendon has served as a strategic convener of labor, business and government leaders and has the ability to get everyone in the room to work together," said Executive Secretary Ron Miller of LA/OC Building and Construction Trades Council. "I look forward to continued collaboration with him in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
